Aziz Donla, the current Wa East Constituency Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially declared his bid for the position of Upper West Regional Communications Officer.
Stepping into the regional race with a strong track record of grassroots mobilization, media coordination, and youth advocacy, Donla promised to build a modern, inclusive, and highly proactive media wing for the party across all constituencies.
Unveiling his vision under the campaign rally cry, “I am coming to serve, not to be served,” the regional aspirant outlined a strategic roadmap focused on amplifying the party’s development record, training new talent, and leveraging digital tools.
Touching on Grassroots Project Tracking & Media Visibility, Donlaa pledged to personally tour all communities across the region to document NDC-led infrastructure and social interventions. Working in close coordination with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), his team will produce video evidence of key projects. This content will be distributed directly to regional radio panellists and communicators, ensuring the party’s achievements are systematically highlighted across every airwave in the Upper West Region.
Identifying a longstanding gap in female representation within local political broadcasting, Donlaa committed to actively recruiting, training, and mentoring women to defend the party. He revealed that he has already taken on three female communicators, bringing them along to live morning newspaper review shows to gain hands-on broadcast experience.
“If you are looking for people who love and can fiercely defend the party, it is our women,” Donla noted, promising to expand this mentorship model regionally.
Aziz Donla mentioned that he will ensure NDC representatives present factual, bulletproof arguments during media engagements; Donlaa plans to launch a centralized, research-backed digital website. The platform he said, will serve as an easily accessible database where all regional communicators, serial callers, and commentators can retrieve verified statistics and policy facts before going on air.
According to Mr. Aziz, an annual communicators & media monitors retreat will be introduce to foster unity and boost morale among party defenders. The event will bring together frontline communicators, behind-the-scenes media monitors, and party strategists to review performance, undergo professional training, and strengthen team cohesion.
Emphasizing that his ambition is backed by practical results, Donla highlighted his recent achievements as the Communications Officer for Wa East. Through proactive lobbying, he has successfully secured:
About 23 Youth Employment positions for young party members, 50 tertiary admissions for students entering Nursing Training Colleges, and Direct administrative support for teachers seeking promotions and district transfers.
“If we could achieve this with the modest leverage of a constituency office, imagine what we can accomplish together for our people when we elevate this leadership to the regional level,” Donla stated.
Donlaa pledged to work seamlessly alongside constituency and regional chairmen, organizers, council members, and executive teams across all constituencies. Appealing directly to delegates for their mandate, he assured the party that a vote for his leadership is a vote for a reliable, united, and formidable communications engine.
