The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa East, Hon. Adamu Shaibu, along with Member of Parliament Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasew and officials from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has officially handed over a site in Funsi for the construction of a modern district health insurance office.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Shaibu noted that since the district’s creation in 2004, NHIS staff have been operating under challenging conditions, scattered across the district and region due to the lack of a permanent, adequate office.
The DCE expressed his appreciation to the CEO of the National Health Insurance Scheme Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasew MP Wa East, and President John Dramani Mahama for facilitating the project. He noted that the initiative forms part of the government’s wider development agenda to bring essential public services closer to citizens.

Hon. Adamu Shaibu urged community members to extend their full support to the project team and assured residents of ongoing development efforts aimed at improving public infrastructure across the district.
The District NHIS Manager, Hon. Kankpan Moses, highlighted the daily difficulties faced by staff, explaining that the current office lacks sufficient space for machinery, critical documentation, and administrative supplies.
He said currently, the district scheme operates out of a cramped three-room rented property belonging to the Catholic Diocese in Funsi.

“I am very happy,” Hon. Kankpan stated. “The old office made our work extremely difficult and prevented officers from delivering their best service due to space constraints. Once completed, this new office will enable us to work efficiently and serve our people better.”
The project consultant, Mr. Theophilus Attipoe of Archexcel Consult, confirmed that the contract has been awarded to ASTEE Company Limited, with an expected completion timeline of eight months. He appealed to the community to support the contractor throughout the construction phase to ensure high-quality delivery.

According to the project consultant Mr. Theophilus Attipoe of Archexcel Consult, the Funsi office utilizes a standardized national prototype design being rolled out across select districts, valued at approximately 3.5 million Ghana Cedis.
Speaking to Pulung News, MP Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasew highlighted how he leveraged and secure the new ultra-modern NHIS building. He noted that establishing a permanent facility for health insurance operations was a key legislative priority to improve public services for his constituents.
