The governing New Patriotic party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured small scale miners across the country that, his government will empower them to be dollar millionaires.
Addressing party loyalist in Funsi the district capital of Wa east on Wednesday during a rally, the vice president mentioned that when he wins power he would grant licenses to small-scale miners to do the mining so they don’t go chasing them.
‘‘We are going to dedicate particular concession to our small scale miners and they will mine and we will give them common user facility so that they can get more gold out of their tailings’’ he said.
Dr. Bawumia promised the miners that his government will not go chasing them and seizing their excavators.
According to the presidential flagbearer, his government will also create a mineral development bank, and the bank he said will provide money to the small scale miners to buy equipments and when they make the money they will pay the loan to the bank.
‘‘We are going to help the small scale miners, so a new era is coming, Dr. Bawumia is bringing in new policies to help everybody’’.
