Kalba wura Amaliya Saaka, the Chief of Kalba, has appealed to the Government to rehabilitate the road networks in the area to make transportation of people and goods to other human settlements easy.
He said the deplorable nature of the roads in the area, was not only making living conditions difficult for the people, but had also become a asylum for armed robbers.
Kalba wura, made the appeal when Pulung news paid a visit to his palace.
The paramount chief has pointed out that the governing New Patriotic Party for the past seven years in power has done nothing for the people in Kalba.
“We are neglected by the government, nothing, when you go round, whereby can you stand in town and ask anyone when the government came in, to point a finger to a project you can’t find anything”.
Amaliya hinted that the road connecting the communities of Kalba, Uro, Saru, Garkuon, and Kulbi are in a sorry state. He added that the worst road in the area is the Tuna – Kalba stretch.
According to Kalba wura, it’s communal labor that is sustaining the Tuna -Kalba stretch. He mentioned that anytime the road is flagging, they always resort to communal labor to fix it.
He says that, the current Member of Parliament for the area hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey went to parliament under the ticket of NDC and should he appeal to any minister for a project no one will mind him.
“Our man is NDC man, if he should go there, go to NPP office and say they should help him, they know he is NDC man, who will mind him?.
I saw him in parliament house, at parliament house I saw him making request for all the roads in Kalba to be fixed but they didn’t mind him”.
Responding to the Chief’s comment, the Parliamentary candidate for NPP in the Sawla -Tuna – Kalba constituency Mr. Ankaara Sankara debunked the chiefs statement which suggest that “You Can’t Point To A Single Project NPP Executed In Kalba”.
According Mr. Ankaara government recently worked on the Gbiniyir to Chechireyiri to Konhiinyiri stretch of the Kalba Gbiniyir road.
“We are doing everything possible to fix the rest of the road from Konhiinyiri through Kalba to Garkuon and to connect with Dalanyiri in the Wa West District he said”.
The Parliamentary candidate expressed his readiness to partner with the chiefs and other stakeholders to propel the growth of the area if voted for.
The Tuna – Kalba road in 2016 was awarded to Messrs Logistics Support Services Ltd under the road fund. But the contractor since 2017 left the road to deteriorate.
