SOSUG 25: Kunyebing Eleven Wonders Crowned Champions of 10th South Sissala Unity Games

Organized by the Lawyer Abu Juan’s Foundation, the South Sissala Unity Games have become a cornerstone of the local sporting calendar since their inception in 2015.

The 2025 edition of the South Sissala Unity Games concluded in spectacular vogue as Kunyebing Eleven Wonders emerged as champions, marking the 10th anniversary of the prestigious tournament.

Hosted in Funsi, the Wa East District capital, from December 23rd to 29th, the week-long tournament brought together eight teams in a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and community peace.

The tournament reached its climax in a high-stakes final between Kunyebing Eleven Wonders and Nabulo FC. Following a hard-fought and closely contested match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Eleven Wonders secured their victory through a dramatic penalty shootout with 4:3 goals in favour of Kunyebing Eleven Wonders.

The champions walked away with the ultimate trophy, gold medals, a certificate of merit, and a cash prize of GHC 1,000.00.

First Runners-Up: Nabulo FC received silver medals, a certificate, and GHC 600.00, Second Runners-Up: Funsi Rising Stars were awarded bronze medals, a certificate, and GHC 400.00, Fair Play Award: Yaala Heart of Lions were recognized for their discipline, taking home the “Well Behaved” trophy and certificate.

Several players were singled out for their exceptional performances throughout the week: Best Player: Abass Fuseini (Yaala Heart of Lions), Top Scorer: Wiavogun Jacob (Sawoube Super Lions), finishing with three goals, Best Goalkeeper: Moro Malik (Kunyebing Eleven Wonders)

Speaking on the impact of the event, organizers highlighted that the foundation’s goal remains the promotion of unity and the provision of a platform for local talent to showcase their skills to a wider audience. This year’s 10th-anniversary edition further solidified the tournament’s legacy as a vital tool for community development through sports.
