In a press release, the Sissala Youth Forum (SYF) expressed concern over the security state of Sissala Land, particularly Sissala East, describing it as extremely concerning and undermining efforts at development.
“We are engaging other partners and relevant agencies on the matter.
“The support and timely information of everyone is much needed now than ever to address the situation”.
The release which was signed by the president of the Sissala Youth Forum Mr. Issifu Napuna Alidu said the security agencies and other community based measures are being weighed and alternatives to be considered, since matters of security needs conventional and non-conventional approaches especially in this era.
Napuna Alidu also mentioned in the presser that they cannot continue to allow the security of the whole land in the hands of the few; for insecurity to triumph. Adding that it seems so far, no meaningful arrest/killing of the armed robbers have been made and that have Bolden the activities of the criminals in our Land he said.
The president added that the state (government) must step up security measures to address the situation. Especially the police must be ready to do their paid job rather than the many complains of irrelevant harassment of farmers on their way to their farm. The presence of the military in Sissala land towards security must be felt. And so are other paramilitary agencies within the confines of the law.
“If criminals can kill freely, then criminals must be killed openly.
“We, (Leadership of SYF) once again appeal to all of you to support us in rising to a decisive call for action when the time comes”.
The Sissala Youth Forum (SYF) made this appeal against the back drop of an armed robbery attack in Wallembelle and Sakai communities on Saturday that led to the death of two brothers in Wallembelle.
